Gus’ career spans over 17 years with 12+ years in rail infrastructure for various government and private enterprises. Gus has worked through all facets of project delivery and management in delivering multi-disciplined major rail infrastructure projects.
Gus’ strength lay in his diverse experience across all disciplines and the coordination skills and interface understanding he has developed. His rail project approach includes a focus on project staging, possession planning and the management of stakeholder, contractor and live infrastructure interfaces. Gus can claim ‘hands on’ experience in almost all rail discipline facets including station and associated communications systems installation experience and in this way Gus combines with the other members of Rail Planning Services to deliver a truly balanced team of rail experienced professionals.
Career Highlights and Major Projects
•Project Engineer for RailCorp managing the Chatswood and Epping ends of the Epping to Chatswood Rail Link Interface Works Sydney. The project involved the multi-disciplined construction management of civil, track, signals, communications, OHW, HV and LV electrical infrastructure in the live rail environment. Detailed possession planning and management on over 80 possessions were the corner stone of the success of the project works.
These project works involved the direct management of the construction of temporary and permanent hi-rail access pads, platform construction and modification, in-ground hydraulics, services routes, under track crossings, driver’s walkways, turn-back roads, OHW structures, post and panel retaining walls reinforced earth walls, soil nail walls, turnouts, crossovers, plain track, track re-conditionings and track slews
•Project Engineer for RailCorp managing the Parramatta Transport Interchange works in the Parramatta precinct, Sydney. This project involved the extension and fit out of the Western and Eastern Concourses and associated rail infrastructure at Parramatta Station. The jewel in the crown of this project was the construction of two, direct fix, steel under-bridges at the City end of the Station. Close coordination with the RailCorp design team to address constructability issues and detailed possession programming were once again the foundation of the success of this project.
•Project Engineer for RailCorp managing works on the New Southern Railway (Airport Rail Tunnel) Sydney. This project linked Central Station though to Turrella via Green Square, Mascot, Domestic Terminal, International Terminal and Wolli Creek.
•5 years constructing roads, playing fields, minor concrete works, in-ground services and landscaping in Sydney and Canberra were the prelude to his current career in the rail industry.
