The Lidcombe to Granville Corridor Upgrade
Program (LGCUP) is a program of works to upgrade
rail infrastructure in the Lidcombe to Granville rail
corridor. The program will improve network reliability
and capacity and provide more efficient and reliable
access to and from the maintenance and stabling facilities.
The program currently consists of various projects, with the Auburn Junction Project
involving the removal of redundant track, upgrading of existing track, replacement of
overhead wiring infrastructure and upgrades to track drainage. Upgrading of signalling,
communications and control systems and new high voltage works to support the new
signalling system is also a key part of the project.
Rail Planning Services provided experienced, accredited and authorised Signal Engineers
to assist with the construction management, inspection, testing and commissioning of
the LGCUP and have been involved in both Stage 7 of LGCUP (a new connection to the
Auburn Maintenance Facility and Clyburn) and Auburn Junction.
Activities included:
• Construction management and commissioning planning;
• Inspection of completed installation to ensure compliance with NSW standards;
• Bell Testing of new locations and trackside equipment;
• Set to work of new Microlok interlockings and trackside equipment;
• Local and system function testing;
• Assistance with design and control system testing;
• Final equipment certification;
• Overall Signal Commissioning;
• Documentation management.
Rail Planning Services has significant experience in the construction delivery, testing and
