Interface Manager – Metro North West                                                                                                              2016 – Present

Responsible for managing Interfaces with key external stakeholders in the development and delivery of the Metro North West.


TfNSW – Station Projects

  • Engineering and Assurance Project Manager – Wayfinding Program 2014 – 2016
  • Responsible for all engineering and assurance tasks for the project as well as managing the delivery of a third of the stations. It is his responsibility to set up the program systems, present each station at CCB, engage Stakeholders such as Sydney Trains’ environmental and heritage team, and present at SWG to ensure that there are no barriers to delivery of the program.
  • Managed the review of the design loads and is in the process of having the loads and serviceability criteria revised. This will enable a leaner set of brackets and supports to be developed, creating significant savings to the project.
  • Working for Sydney Train Station Projects team Stuart has had to build strong working relationships with a large number of internal and external stakeholders. From station managers, maintenance teams, heritage and safety groups to local councils and shopping centres he was able to develop strong working relationships to enable the delivery of the station refreshes and Wayfinding program.
      • Project Manager – Station Refresh Program
    • Responsible for managing a variety of contractors, stakeholders, heritage approvals, possession planning, safety and environmental requirements to deliver the refresh of 5 stations under budget and to time. Wrote the Project Management Plans used by the program the plans have recently been used by Sydney Trains’ PMO as an example of best practice. For his work on the refresh of Hornsby station, he received a heritage award from the local council.

  • Involved in a number of assignments in both project advisory and project delivery. Assisted Transurban in the delivery of the M2 upgrade and was responsible for contracts administration, constructability reviews, design reviews, risk management and claims assessment.
  • Assignments included a review of NBN works in the Sydney area, a constructability review of a pedestrian bridge over the Nepean River for RMS and work on a business case for Sydney Trains in association with Deloitte and SMEC.
    • Southern Sydney Freight Line
      • Construction Design Manager (North) 2010 – 2012
    • Responsible for being the interface between the designer (Aurecon), the client (ARTC), and the construction team. Managing the development and improvement of technical designs and resolving all design related issues that came up during construction. Responsible for risk management, revitalising Arenco’s risk management plan and procedure, chairing all risk workshops and maintaining the risk register. Stuart successfully managed relationships with our client ARTC, RailCorp, as well as local councils, shops and private residents.
    • Victorian Desalination Plant
      • Senior Project Engineer 2009 – 2010

Managed all aspects of construction management for precast concrete, HVAC and fire sprinkler systems. Responsible for design coordination, shop drawing management, subcontractor procurement, contracts management, quality assurance inspections and documentation, off-site inspections, budget control / forecasting, WHS reviews including crane lift studies, programming of works, and subcontractor coordination.

    • Project Engineer/Design Coordinator 2008 – 2009
  • Responsible for in-situ concrete, structural steel, precast concrete, roofing, wall cladding, and static ventilation. These elements needed to be delivered on time ready for the mechanical and electrical teams to install their equipment this was completed to budget and ahead of schedule. After delivering the structures, moved into the Design Management Team managing designers and drafters, responding to client design questions, RFI resolution, HAZOP issue resolution and management of the WAE drawings.

Responsible for the construction management of in-situ concrete, structural steel, precast concrete, roofing, wall cladding, roller doors, windows and louvers including: design coordination, shop drawing management, off-site inspections, contractor coordination, erection coordination, quality inspections, and QA documentation. Managed the specialist contractor for blast rated windows and doors to develop shop drawings, site coordination and completion signoff.

Responsible for detailed structural design, site inspections, verification, report writing and drawing development for various commercial, industrial and residential projects ranging in size from residential homes to 17 storey blocks of units. This included, but was not limited to, the design of footing and piling solutions, reinforced concrete, shoring, structural steel, precast concrete, pre-tensioned concrete.
