The remodeling of Hornsby Yard was a complex brownfield project vital in supporting increased services under the new 2017 timetable regimes; in aim to remove low speed and protecting signal constraints.
Rail Planning Services were engaged from the pre-concept design phase to advise on methods and staging of construction. Responsibilities included program development and possession identification, working closely with Sydney Trains and TfNSW to develop concepts, and working closely with the Technical Advisor to develop a feasible OHW design.
Due to the extensive reconfiguration of the existing yard and the interface of both the Main North and the Shores lines, our team were engaged to lead negotiations with Sydney Trains for special possessions and closedowns to achieve time constraints.
