Sydney Metro City & Southwest (CSW) is part of Australia’s largest public transport project, its first driverless passenger railway.  CSW will extend Sydney Metro Northwest under Sydney Harbour, through new underground stations in Sydney’s CBD to the south west to Bankstown. The project consists of 30km of railway, 7 new underground stations and upgrading of 11 existing stations.

Rail Planning Services were integral in the development of the Rail Safety Strategy and Metro IMS documents such as the Rail Operating Conditions Standard & Procedure and the Rolling Stock Acceptance Procedure.

Other scope included:

  • developing Rail Safety Interface Agreements between Sydney Metro and adjoining Rail Transport Operators (MTS, ARTC, Light Rail);
  • liaising regularly with Sydney Trains and contractors regarding safe working arrangement; and
  • daily rail safety advice and support for projects at live rail interfaces including review of Contractors’ safety documentation, attending project safety meetings, site surveillance and assisting with management of Rail Safety Workers in Metro.
