Cross River Rail is a 10km rail line between Dutton Park and Bowen Hills which includes 5.9 kilometres of tunnel under the Brisbane River and the CBD, 4 new underground stations, and 2 upgraded stations.
The Brisbane Live Arena proposal is for a new arena of 17,000 to 18,000 seats located on a large deck structure built over railways, roads and property, with active transport connections to neighboring CBD locations.
Rail Planning Services were the Strategic Rail Advisor for the development of the Business Case. Our scope included:
- Identifying requirements for relocation of rail services and equipment, advice in relation to track and civil related aspects of the plaza construction and impact assessments on the OHLE & Signalling equipment;
- Liaison with Queensland Rail to clearly define all operational rail requirements affecting the deck design and construction; and
- Interdisciplinary review of short-listed proponents’ initial design and staging submissions for constructability and efficiency. This included feedback to the project team that challenged the short-listed tender proponents’ submissions driving towards a comprehensive, integrated, efficiently staged and constructable approach.
At a later date, our team were re-engaged to review of delivery under a different track occupancy and closedown regime.
